I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, Pakistan. I am also a Co-Director of CITY (Center for Urban Informatics, Technology, and Policy) at LUMS.

Previously, I was with the Department of Electrical Engineering, at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore as an Assistant Professor. Prior to that, I was a Research Fellow with the Research School of Engineering, College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS), The Australian National University (ANU), where I was also a member of Applied Signal Processing group. I also worked at Tetra Pak as Project Engineer from 2008 to 2010.

I was also a Visiting Professor at the Department of Statistics, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) from Aug. 2023 to Aug. 2024.

I am also a co-founder of Vending Central.

Feb. 2025:

  • We are conducting a full-day workshop on Managing Inclusivity and Diversity in Large Classrooms on February 14, 2025 as part of our Erasmus-CBHE RAPID project.

Jan. 2025:

  • We have submitted six papers to the 2025 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium. Check the Publications tab for more details.

  • Our paper “Efficient Sampling and Accurate Reconstruction of Order-Limited Spherical Signals” has been accepted for publication in the IEEE Signal Processing Letters.

Nov. 2024:

  • I have been awarded the 2024 ACM Gordon Bell Prize for Climate Modeling for our project “Boosting Earth System Model Outputs and Saving PetaBytes in Their Storage Using Exascale Climate Emulators.” The award, considered as Nobel of Supercomputing and announced at the Supercomputing Conference, recognizes innovative parallel computing contributions to addressing the global climate crisis.

Jun. 2024:

  • Our work towards Fast and Accurate Spherical Harmonic Transform for Spatio-temporal Regular Grid Data has been accepted for publication in IEEE Signal Processing Letters.
