Overview:
In BSP, the paper (board) of different web-width is produced and is supplied to different customers for production of end-products. During the board production process, the spots, of varying color and different sizes, across the web-width may appear due to contamination in the raw material. These spots are undesirable and serve as quality defects. To limit the customer claims and waste material produced during production, there was a need to devise a system to detect the spots during the production or slitting process. We have designed and deployed a machine vision-based spot detection system at high speed that will facilitate the process engineers and operators to appropriately review the production process and raw material. The system was commissioned and handed over to BSP team in 2019.
